Highlights 2017 for Harty’s July – August
July – August Highlights:
July means it is time for The Irish Food Awards. It is the biggest competition for quality Irish produce and last year over 2500 products entered the competition to win either Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards in over 100 different food and drink categories. We were absolutely delighted and surprised to take home the SILVER for our delicious Mint Jelly, which was blind tested and liked by all the judges. This year we had three new entriesincluding, our Ginger Hot Pepper Jelly, our Chargrilled Sweet Pepper Jelly and finally Harty’s new scrumptious, Gluten free, Wheat free and no added Sugar Savoury Biscuits.
In other exciting news, since July we are delighted to have our tasty jellies stocked in The Fish Station in Skibbereen and in Dano’s Supervalu, Mallow.
August took us to the Taste of Cavan. This was our third year at what is fast becoming one of the best food festivals in the country. Last year we had an incredible weekend at this popular event which took place on the grounds of the Cavan Equestrian Centre, so we had high hopes for this year’s event – and thankfully, we weren’t disappointed. Big Irish food names such as The Happy Pear and Brian McDermot made an appearance. Also, the return of Neven Maguires Home Chef of Cavan competition really got the crowd going.
We were only delighted to learn that we have been shortlisted for the 2017 Blas Awards. We are absolutely thrilled to be a part of such a well-known competition. Our Ginger Hot Pepper Jelly and our Chargrilled Pepper proved to be popular amongst the judges. The final blind tasting was held before the Dingle Food Festival.
To round out the busy summer we attendedthe 9th Annual A Taste of Donegal Food Festival held from the 25th-27th August in Donegal Town. After the huge success of last year’s Festival, A Taste of Donegal 2017 pulled out all the stops and gave us an even bigger and better and very enjoyable event!
Many thanks to all the Supervalu’s throughout Kerry and Cork for their support with our instore tasting calendar. They have been tremendously helpful and supportive of our company’s products and all of our promotions as well. One of these very generous and supportive stores is Garvey’s Tralee who recently celebrated their 25th birthday. This marked a huge milestone for them. They have been successfully keeping their customers happy with their outstanding service and quality products for quite a long time.
Finally, we would like to kindly thank all of the coordinators of every event we attended this year, the volunteers, and makers for all their diligent work and of course our customers for their continued loyal support.
And of course, we can to be found in many Supervalu’s throughout Kerry and Cork so watch out for us and stop for a chat.
